On Wednesday, August 28, Paris will host its first-ever Paralympic Games, beginning with a spectacular Opening Ceremony in the heart of the French capital.

At 20:00 local time, Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Élysées will welcome 4,400 Paralympic athletes from 184 delegations to mark the start of 11 days of competition, which begins on August 29.

Artistic Director Thomas Jolly, who is leading the ceremony's design, promises a show that will "highlight the Paralympic athletes and the values they represent." Jolly describes the event as "a magnificent source of inspiration" with "performances never seen before," aiming to unite viewers worldwide around the distinctive spirit of the Paralympic Games.

The ceremony will take place outdoors, with athletes parading down the famous avenue, culminating in the celebration and official opening of the Paralympic Games at the iconic square, witnessed by thousands of spectators.
