Ayub, who scored a fifty in Pakistan's first innings, managed a solitary run from three balls as he departed after fishing for a delivery that nipped away from his body.

Tigers all out for 565, earn a 117-run lead

Bangladesh were able to add 37 runs after the dismissal of Mushfiqur Rahim as the Tigers were bundled out for 565 in the final session on Day 4 of the first Test against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Stadium on Saturday.

Mushfiqur's 191 helped the Tigers take a 117-run lead in reply to Pakistan 448 for six. The right-handed batter missed out on his fourth double century by nine runs but his marathon effort saw him put together 114 and a 196 stands with Liton Das and Mehedi Hasan Miraz respectively. This resettled the Tigers innings after they were reduced to 218 for five on Day 3 and took them ahead on the fourth day.

Mushfiqur falls nine runs short of 200

Mushfiqur Rahim's marathon effort came to an end as the batter fell nine runs short of a double hundred as Bangladesh lost their seventh wicket for 528, leading Pakistan by 80 runs, in the final session on Day 4 of the first Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Mushfiqur was seemingly set to complete his fourth double hundred in Tests, looking in complete command when a delivery from pacer Mohammad Ali extracted a little extra bounce to take the outside edge of his bat and end up in the gloves of Mohammad Rizwan.

The wicket also ended a 196-run stand between Mushfiqur and Mehedi Hasan Miraz, which is Bangladesh's highest partnership for the seventh wicket in Tests.

Mushfiqur batted for almost nine hours for his 191 runs, facing 341 deliveries and hitting 22 fours and a lone six.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehedi Hasan Miraz continued to frustrate the Pakistan bowlers, playing out the entire post-lunch session to help Bangladesh go into Tea on 495-6, with a lead of 47 in the first Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Mushfiqur is batting on 173, crossing the 150-mark for the sixth time in his Test career, while Miraz is unbeaten on 50, bringing up his seventh Test fifty in the session, as the pair have so far added 163 runs for the seventh wicket, much to the dismay of the hosts.

The duo put together 106 runs in the session off 31 overs, as the Pakistan bowlers were left scratching their heads, trying to find a way through their stern resistance.

The only real chance for a wicket came in the 142nd over, when off-spinner Salman Agha extracted some extra bounce and turn against Mushfiqur and the ball ricocheted off his gloves towards Babar Azam at leg slip, who made a mess of the chance.

Mushfiqur brings up ton as Tigers dominate first session on Day 4

Playing his first Test in Pakistan, Mushfiqur Rahim notched up a century as Bangladesh closed the gap on the hosts' first innings total of 448 for six (declared) on Day 4 of their first Test in Rawalpindi on Saturday.

At lunch, Bangladesh reached 389 for six, with Mushfiqur unbeaten on 101 off 208 deliveries and Mehedi Hasan Miraz on 17 off 44 deliveries. Bangladesh still trail by 59 runs.

Mushfiqur brought up his 11th Test ton near the end of the first session when he nudged on past the wicketkeeper through to fine leg to complete a double.

Bangladesh scored 73 runs in the 25-over session, losing just a solitary wicket -- that of Liton Das, who nicked one back to the wicketkeeper off a Naseem Shah delivery to walk back following a 56-run knock early in the day.

Since Liton's dismissal, Mushfiqur and Miraz regrouped to stitch an unbeaten seventh-wicket stand of 57 runs.

Naseem removes Liton to end a 114-run stand

Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah got rid of Bangladesh batter Liton Das inside the first hour of Day 4 of their first Test in Rawalpindi, ending a 114-run sixth-wicket stand between Liton and Mushfiqur Rahim.

After 104 overs, Bangladesh reached 335 for six, with overnight batter Mushfiqur unbeaten on 67 and Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who had just come on to the crease, on two off 11 deliveries. The Tigers still trail by 113 runs in reply to Pakistan's first innings score of 448 for six (declared).

Bangladesh started the day positively, playing Pakistan pacers with little to no trouble until Liton nicked one back to the keeper to depart after a 78-ball 56-run knock. Pakistan pacers' ploy of bowling short finally did the trick as Liton could not hold back the temptation of playing at an outside off length delivery that had extra bounce in it.

Mushfiqur also survived an LBW scare when the right-handed batter was given out off the bowling of pacer Mohammad Ali only for the decision to be reversed following a review.
